I've started taking more photographs.

Not because I think I'm a photographer.

Mostly because I keep noticing little things.

The way the sky looks for approximately three minutes before changing.

A stranger walking alone with headphones on.

A ridiculous shadow on a building.

A cup sitting on a desk exactly where I left it.

Nothing important.

And somehow, everything important.

I think we're taught to remember the big things.

Birthdays.

Trips.

Achievements.

Firsts.

But most of life doesn't happen there.

Most of it is Tuesday afternoon.

It's the elevator ride.

It's sitting somewhere with nothing particularly interesting happening.

It's laughing at something stupid.

It's walking home.

It's another ordinary day that doesn't announce itself as a memory.

So I'm trying to notice.

Maybe that's all photography is for me right now.

Proof that I was paying attention.
